Videos and Worksheets
On this page, you will find a variety of videos and worksheets. These resources are to help you become a more knowledgeable and competitive player.
Here's some advice...don't watch all of the videos in one sitting. The same goes for the worksheets. Pick a topic to focus on, takes notes, and reflect. Wrestle with the same topic for a couple of weeks. Improving your mentality is like learning a new skill - it takes patience and practice.
If you have any questions about these skills or how to develop them, please reach out to Coach Will at will@moyouthsoccer.org.

Motivation: Preparing for Training and Games
Write a Pep-Talk
Writing yourself a pep-talk before a game is a powerful way to motivate ourselves and create confidence. See the example below from a collegiate soccer player.
Pre-Performance Routines
Building out a routine for training sessions and games can help us be consistent and it gives us a sense of control. Use the worksheet below to build your routine.
Build Correct Focus
Focus is difficult to maintain. We often end up focusing on things that won't help us perform at our highest level. Try this at home:
- List out all of the things that affect your performance.
- Circle the things on the list that you can control.
- Cross out the things on the list that you cannot control.
- For your next game, focus ONLY on the circled items on your list.
